FAQ:

  • What qualifies as “student produced media”?

The short answer to this question is:  A student must be present in every aspect of the project.  Aspects can include storyboarding, writing, planning, filming, and editing.

Our team is aware that abilities vary according to age and grade level.  The most important thing to remember is that judges are instructed to evaluate entries based on their own merits and against their own instructional objectives.

  • How do I know what questions will be asked on the submission form?

All of our entries are accepted online in a single-page form. To see what's asked, simply create a free account at judgify.me/csmf. Take a look!

  • What role is a teacher allowed to assume?

We would like for teachers to take on the role of supervisor or assistant.  Teachers can oversee student work, or execute tasks as directed by student(s).

The California Student Media Festival is produced in partnership by PBS SoCaL and CUE, with additional support from CSLA.
All three are 501(c)3 non-profit corporations.
